Juan Ramón Jiménez: "Oceans"

I have a feeling that my boat
has struck, down there in the depths,
against a great thing.
                    And nothing
happens! Nothing... Silence... Waves...

—Nothing happens? Or has everything happened,
and are we standing now, quietly, in the new life?

"Oceans" by Juan Ramón Jiménez, from The Soul Is Here for Its Own Joy: Sacred Poems from Many Cultures, edited by Robert Bly. Poem translated from the Spanish by Robert Bly. © Ecco Press, 1995.

    1. A glass raised in good cheer to you, too, Ralph. Currently sitting in an airport headed home from holiday visits with family. I hope you're well and happy, and still writing. :)
