Muriel Rukeyser: "Islands"

                                          O for God’s sake
                                          they are connected
                                          underneath

                                          They look at each other
                                          across the glittering sea
                                          some keep a low profile

                                          Some are cliffs
                                          The Bathers think
                                          islands are separate like them
